About the department
E.coli research China (ERC) is an integrated part of Novo Nordisk R&D organization, focusing on protein expression and purification and process development from E.coli. Department of E.coli Transfer Lab (ETL) is one of the ERC departments responsible for process development and process transfer and protein production in large scale in E.coli. We are highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our deliveries into the projects and an increasing focus on flexible processes in our daily work. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good communication and dynamic collaboration between both scientists and technicians
The position
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from many different scientific backgrounds both in China and at our head quarters in Denmark. You will contribute to several research projects with responsibility for the development of scalable/economical protein fermentation processes. You will also be responsible for handing over of the E.coli process to CMC settings including documentation in relation to the transfer.
You will be reporting directly to department manager and your main internal contacts will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.

Your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
Fermentation process development to improve process robustness and performance by suggesting and implementing process improvements.Identifying and evaluating new technologies for fermentation processesParticipating in strain, process, and cost efficiency improvement efforts. Design and execute experiment plans and monitor processes to ensure consistency and reliability.
Qualifications
You hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Metabolic Engineering, Microbiology, Physiology, or equivalent.Experience with bench-top and/or pilot plant fermentor operations.Strong technical background and direct hands-on experience with fermentation processes Strong knowledge of microbial systems, physiology, bacterial metabolism and nutritional requirementsUnderstanding of basic protein biochemistry, microbiology, and recombinant protein expression in microbial hosts.Good experimental design and data analysis capabilities including Design of Experiments (DOE).Postdoc experiences with a proven track record of accomplishments, preferably in bio-industrial, or life sciences.You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative; result- oriented and of a good sense of humour. You have authority and thrive in an environment with individual responsibility and a high degree of personal impact in the projects but at the same time you are good at collaborating in teams. You are good at communicating, fluent in English, able to meet deadlines and keep an overview.
